Photos for forms

What photo and signature size does each exam or job portal ask for? Bangladesh and India, in one table

Every portal sets two rules for each file, a size in pixels and a size in KB, and some add a minimum. The table gives the figures each one asks for and where the figure was read; Resize Image makes a photo or signature that passes both rules and shows the exact size before you download.

The rules are short, but each portal writes them differently, and the upload fails without saying which rule you broke. This page gathers the ones we have checked into one table. Each row links to a page about that portal, which says exactly how to make the files on a phone.

Two things to know before the table:

  • Pixels and kilobytes are separate rules. Pixels are the width and height of the picture; KB is how heavy the file is. A photo can be 60 KB and still be refused because it is 1200 × 1600 pixels. It has to pass both.
  • "Under 100 KB" depends on how the portal counts. Some count a kilobyte as 1,000 bytes and some as 1,024. A file your phone shows as 98 KB can be over 100,000 bytes. KB vs KiB explains it; the short version is to stay under the smaller count, which Resize Image does.

A figure marked as read in an official help page is one we read there ourselves. A figure marked as reported is one a national newspaper quoted from the notice. Either way, check your own circular: sizes change from year to year, and a notice can set a different figure for the same exam.

How to make a file that passes

The method is the same for every row.

  1. Open Resize Image. Add the photo or the signature.
  2. Type the pixels from the table in Width and Height, and the largest size in the File size box. If the row has a minimum (20 KB, 30 KB, 50 KB), open More options and type it in Smallest size.
  3. For a signature, choose Signature as the kind of picture: the paper is made white, the ink darker, and the picture is trimmed to the signature.
  4. Read the list beside the preview. Every rule gets a tick, and the exact size in bytes and pixels is shown, so you know before you download.

The picture never leaves your phone or computer: the resizing happens in the browser.

The size pages do the same with the limit already set: 100 KB for the Teletalk, BCS and GST photo, 50 KB for the bank exam photo, 20 KB for the bank signature, and Signature resize for a signature on paper.

Why an upload is refused even when the size looks right

  • The pixels are wrong. A photo that is 100 KB but 1200 × 1600 pixels fails. The pixels rule is checked separately.
  • The portal counts KB differently. A file at 99 KB on your phone can be over the limit by the portal's count. Stay under 100,000 bytes for a 100 KB rule.
  • It is not a real JPG. A PNG renamed .jpg, or a HEIC photo from an iPhone, is refused by many portals. Resize Image saves a real JPG.
  • The signature is too small. A clean signature can be 3 KB, under a 10 KB minimum. Why a signature is "too small" explains how the minimum is met without changing the picture.
  • The photo arrives on its side. Phones store a note about which way up the photo was taken and some portals ignore it. Why a photo uploads sideways has the fix.
  • A full-size phone photo cannot reach 20 KB without blur. It has to be made smaller in pixels first. 20 KB without blur and 50 KB kaise kare walk through it.

Common questions

What is the most common photo size for a Bangladesh government job form?

300 × 300 pixels, JPG, under 100 KB for the photo, and 300 × 80 pixels, JPG, up to 60 KB for the signature. That is what the NTRCA help page for Teletalk forms gives and what the 49th BCS guidelines were reported to give. Many other circulars that apply through Teletalk use the same figures, but each circular sets its own, so check yours.

What photo size do the IBPS and SBI exams ask for?

Photo 200 × 230 pixels at 20 to 50 KB, signature 140 × 60 pixels at 10 to 20 KB, left thumb impression 240 × 240 pixels at 20 to 50 KB, and handwritten declaration 800 × 400 pixels at 50 to 100 KB, all JPG. These come from the SBI guidelines for scanning and uploading documents.

Why does the table give a range, like 30 to 200 KB?

Because the portal sets both a minimum and a maximum. Below the minimum the file is refused as well. In Resize Image, type the maximum in the File size box and the minimum in Smallest size under More options, and the tool keeps the file inside the range.

Can I use the same photo for several portals?

Only when their rules match, which the Teletalk, BCS and GST photo rules do (300 × 300 pixels, JPG, under 100 KB). A photo made for one of those will not pass the bank exam rule of 200 × 230 pixels, so make a separate file for each row that differs. Resize Image can do several at once with the same settings.
