Photos for forms
How do I make a Dhaka University admission photo 460–480 × 600–620 pixels and 30–200 KB?
For 2025-26 the photo was reported as 460 to 480 pixels wide, 600 to 620 pixels tall and 30 to 200 KB, as a JPG. In Resize Image, type 465 in Width and 620 in Height (any size inside the ranges passes), 200 in the File size box and 30 in Smallest size under More options; check your year's notice first, as the size changes.
The Dhaka University admission form does not use the 300 × 300 square that job forms use. It asks for a portrait photo inside a range of pixel sizes, and it sets a minimum file size as well as a maximum. Both catch people out. Here is the size that was reported, how to read it, and how to make a photo that fits.
The size for 2025-26
| Rule | Value | Where it comes from | How sure we are |
|---|---|---|---|
| Width | 460 to 480 pixels | Prothom Alo, report on the 2025-26 admission notice | Reported by a national newspaper |
| Height | 600 to 620 pixels | The same report | Reported by a national newspaper |
| File size | 30 to 200 KB | The same report | Reported by a national newspaper |
| Format | .jpg or .jpeg | The same report | Reported by a national newspaper |
This changes from year to year. Another summary we found gave quite different numbers, which we could not confirm. So treat the table as the 2025-26 size, and use the numbers in the notice for your own year. The report we read gives the size only, not rules about the background or dress, so follow the notice for those.
What a range means
The width can be anything from 460 to 480 pixels, and the height anything from 600 to 620. Both must be inside their range at the same time.
- 470 × 610 fits.
- 480 × 640 does not: the height is over 620.
- 300 × 300, the job-form photo, does not: both are too small.
- 3000 × 4000, straight from the phone, does not: both are far too big.
The file size is a range too. Over 200 KB is refused, and so is under 30 KB. A photo squeezed down to 20 KB for some other form will not pass here.
The shape suits a phone photo
The allowed sizes are portrait: taller than wide. A normal portrait phone photo has a 3 to 4 shape, and 465 × 620 is exactly that shape and sits inside both ranges. So a head-and-shoulders photo held upright loses little or nothing to cropping.
Step by step
- Open Resize Image and choose your photo: upright, head and shoulders. It is resized on your own phone or computer and not uploaded. Leave Picture on Photo.
- Type 200 in the File size box. Then type one size inside the ranges: 465 in Width and 620 in Height, with the unit on px. That is the phone photo's own shape, so little is cropped. Any size inside both ranges passes; 480 × 620 works just as well.
- Open More options and type 30 in Smallest size (only if the form has a minimum). The tool fits the file between 30 and 200 KB. If the picture alone comes out under 30 KB, for example a very plain photo, it adds blank data inside the JPG to reach 30 KB and tells you so. The picture itself does not change.
- Check the list of checks by the preview: the size between 30 KB and 200 KB, the pixels you typed, saved as JPG. Tap Actual size to see your face as the form will.
- Tap Resize picture, download the file and upload it.
If the notice for your year gives different numbers, pick one width and one height inside its ranges and type those, and type its largest size in File size and its smallest in Smallest size.
Why the upload was rejected
- Under 30 KB. Often a photo made for another form with a small limit. Start again from the original photo, not from the small copy.
- Over 200 KB. Usually the photo straight from the phone.
- Pixels outside the range. Either the original size, or a 300 × 300 job-form photo reused. Check both the width and the height.
- A square photo. A square cannot be 460 to 480 wide and 600 to 620 tall at once.
- Not a real JPG. A PNG or WebP renamed to .jpg is still a PNG or WebP inside. The tool always saves a real JPG.
- Sideways. Phones store which way is up as a note in the photo, and some forms ignore it. The tool reads the note and saves the photo upright. If it is sideways in your gallery, rotate it there first.
What the tool cannot do
- It checks size, pixels, format and file name, not whether the photo follows the notice's other rules.
- Background set to White can lighten a plain, light background, but it does not replace a busy one or fix poor lighting.
- It crops to the shape but does not zoom in on your face. If you look small in the frame, crop closer in your gallery first, or take a new photo.
For forms that use the 300 × 300 square, see the Teletalk photo guide. For the cluster (GST) admission form, see the GST (গুচ্ছ) photo guide.
Common questions
What is the Dhaka University admission photo size?
For 2025-26, Prothom Alo reported 460 to 480 pixels wide, 600 to 620 pixels tall, and 30 to 200 KB, as .jpg or .jpeg. The size changes from year to year, so check the notice for your year.
I searched for ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ভর্তি ছবির সাইজ. Is this it?
Yes. ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ভর্তি ছবির সাইজ for 2025-26 was reported as 460 to 480 pixels wide, 600 to 620 pixels tall and 30 to 200 KB. In Resize Image, type 465 in Width, 620 in Height, 200 in the File size box and 30 in Smallest size under More options.
Can I use my 300 × 300 Teletalk photo?
No. 300 × 300 is outside both pixel ranges. Make a new one from the original photo at 465 × 620 pixels, between 30 and 200 KB.
Why would a photo be too small at under 30 KB?
The form sets a minimum as well as a maximum. A photo that was squeezed down for another form, or a very plain one, can fall under it. Start from the original photo. If the picture is still under 30 KB, Resize Image adds blank data inside the file to reach the minimum and tells you.
Does the blank data change my photo?
No. It is stored inside the JPG as a comment section, a standard part of the format. The picture you see is exactly the same; only the file is heavier.
