Photos for forms
How do I make my photo 300×300 pixels and under 100 KB for a Teletalk job application?
The photo must be exactly 300 × 300 pixels, a JPG, and less than 100 KB. In Resize Image, pick your photo, type 300 in Width and 300 in Height and 100 in the File size box, check that every line in the list has a tick, and download.
You have found the circular, filled in every box, and then the form stops at the photo. It wants 300 × 300 pixels and less than 100 KB. The photo on your phone is about 3000 × 4000 pixels and 3 MB. Here is exactly what the form wants, how to get there in a minute, and what to look at when the upload still fails.
What the form asks for
| File | Rule | Where it comes from | How sure we are |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 300 × 300 pixels, less than 100 KB, JPG | NTRCA online application help page (Teletalk) | Read in the official help page |
| Signature | 300 × 80 pixels, not more than 60 KB, JPG | The same NTRCA help page | Read in the official help page |
| BCS photo and signature | The same two sizes | Prothom Alo English, report on the 49th BCS application guidelines | Reported by a national newspaper |
| Other job circulars that apply through Teletalk | Often the same | Each circular | Not checked one by one: check your circular, sizes can change every year |
Two things in that table matter more than they look.
- Pixels and kilobytes are two separate rules. Pixels are the width and height of the picture. KB is how heavy the file is. A photo can be 60 KB and still be refused because it is 1200 × 1600 pixels. It has to pass both.
- "Less than 100 KB" depends on how the form counts. Some systems count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, others as 1,024. A file your computer shows as 98 KB can be 100,352 bytes, which is over the limit if the form counts in thousands. We cannot know which one a given form uses, so the tool keeps the file at 100,000 bytes or less, which passes either way.
Why 300 × 300 is easier than it sounds
A 300 × 300 photo is small: 90,000 pixels, against about 12 million in a 3000 × 4000 phone photo. Once the pixels are right, the 100 KB limit is rarely the problem. In our tests, a detailed 300 × 300 test photo saved at the very highest quality came to about 68 KB. So there is no need to squeeze the quality down to fit. The real work is the square crop, and getting exactly 300 × 300, not "about" 300.
Step by step
- Open Resize Image and choose your photo. It is opened and resized on your own phone or computer. It is not uploaded anywhere. Leave Picture on Photo.
- Type 100 in the File size box (or tap 100 KB), then type 300 in Width and 300 in Height, with the unit on px. JPG is already the format.
- Look at the crop in the preview. A phone photo is taller than it is wide, so it is cut to a square from the middle. If the top of your head is cut off, open More options and set Keep this part to Top.
- Read the preview. You see the size in KB and in exact bytes, the pixels, and a short list of checks: the size under the 100 KB limit, 300 × 300 pixels as asked, saved as JPG, and the file name. Each line has a tick. Tap Actual size to see your face exactly as the form will see it.
- Tap Resize picture, download the file and upload it in the form.
The signature is the other half of the form, and it has its own problems, mostly a grey paper background. That is covered in signature 300×80 under 60 KB.
If you apply for many posts
Keep the file somewhere safe. Any form that asks for 300 × 300 pixels under 100 KB takes the same file, so you do not need to redo it for every circular. Do read each circular's photo rules first, in case one asks for something different.
If you are doing forms for several people, add all their photos at once. Each comes out at 300 × 300 and they download together as a ZIP.
Why the portal rejected your photo
- Wrong pixel size. The file is under 100 KB but it is not 300 × 300. This happens after using an app that only makes the file lighter and leaves the pixels alone.
- Over 100 KB by the form's count. A file shown as 99 KB on one computer can be over 100 KB by another count. Make it 100,000 bytes or less.
- Not really a JPG. A screenshot is usually a PNG. A picture saved from a website can be WebP. Renaming the file to .jpg does not change what is inside it. The tool always saves a real JPG, whatever the photo started as.
- Sideways after upload. A phone does not turn the picture itself when you hold it upright; it writes a note in the file saying which way is up. A form that ignores the note shows the photo on its side. The tool reads the note and turns the photo upright before resizing. If the photo is sideways in your gallery too, rotate it there first.
- Blurry face. Nearly always the photo itself: one forwarded through a chat app, or a photo of a printed photo. Use the original from your camera.
- An odd file name. A name full of spaces, brackets or Bangla letters is one more thing that can go wrong. The tool gives the download a plain name, such as your file's name plus the size (img-2024-100kb.jpg). If the form wants a set name like photo.jpg, type it in File name under More options.
What the tool cannot do
- It checks the size, the pixels, the format and the file name. It cannot tell whether your photo meets the circular's other rules, such as background colour, dress or how recent it is.
- Background set to White or White, fully can make a plain, light background white, but it does not replace a busy background, fix dark lighting or remove a shadow on your face.
- It crops to a square but does not zoom in on your face. If you look small in the photo, crop it closer in your gallery first, or take a new one.
For the BCS form in particular, see BCS photo and signature rules. For a GST admission photo, which has extra rules about the background and face size, see the GST (গুচ্ছ) photo guide.
Common questions
What is the Teletalk photo size?
300 × 300 pixels, less than 100 KB, JPG. That is what the NTRCA online application help page says, and the 49th BCS guidelines reported by Prothom Alo English give the same size. Many other circulars that apply through Teletalk use it too, but each circular sets its own rules, so check yours.
I searched for টেলিটক ছবি সাইজ. Is this the same thing?
Yes. টেলিটক ছবি সাইজ and ছবি ৩০০x৩০০ করার নিয়ম are both asking this: make the photo exactly 300 × 300 pixels, save it as a JPG, and keep it under 100 KB. In Resize Image, type 300 in Width and 300 in Height and 100 in the File size box, and it does all three.
My photo is already under 100 KB. Do I still need to resize it?
Yes, unless it is also exactly 300 × 300 pixels and a real JPG. The KB limit is only one of the rules. Resize Image makes a fresh JPG at the right size even when the file is already small.
Is my photo uploaded when I resize it?
No. Resize Image works inside your browser. The photo is opened, cropped and saved on your own phone or computer.
What size does the signature need to be?
300 × 80 pixels, not more than 60 KB, JPG, according to the same NTRCA help page. In Resize Image, choose Signature under Picture, which also makes a grey paper background white, then type 300 in Width, 80 in Height and 60 in the File size box.
