Two separate questions, and they have opposite answers. Your documents and everything you make with these tools belong entirely to you, with no licence back to us. The site itself — its design, its code, its name and its words — belongs to us, with some uses you are welcome to make of it without asking.

01Your documents are yours

Nothing about using KovaPDF changes who owns your files. You keep every right you had in a document before you uploaded it, and you keep every right in the result the tool produces.

The output belongs to you outright. There is no licence back to us, no attribution requirement, no watermark, and no restriction on commercial use. A document you edit here can be sold, published, printed, filed in court, or sent to a client without asking us anything, and without crediting us anywhere.

We do not use your documents to train machine-learning models, and we do not retain them at all. The only permission you give us is the temporary, functional one described in the Terms of Use: to receive the file, transform it as you asked, return it, and delete our copy.

02What we own

The KovaPDF name, logo, interface design, illustrations, icons, written copy — including the legal documents on this site — and the software behind the service are ours, or are used by us under licence. Copyright and trademark law protect them, and nothing on this site grants you a licence to them by implication.

Without our written permission, please do not:

copy the site’s design, layout, or written content into another product or website;
use the KovaPDF name or logo in a way that suggests endorsement, affiliation, or partnership;
rebrand or resell the service as your own;
copy the interface closely enough that a reasonable person would think they were using KovaPDF.

03What you may do without asking

Some uses of our material need no permission at all, and we would rather say so than leave it unclear:

Link to us. Freely, from anywhere, using our name as the link text. No permission and no linking agreement is required.
Write about us. Reviews, comparisons, tutorials, and criticism may quote a reasonable amount of our text and use our screenshots, with attribution. A negative review is as welcome as a positive one; we will not use copyright to suppress either.
Use our name descriptively — “converted with KovaPDF” — where it is genuinely descriptive and does not suggest we endorse what you have made.
Teach with it. Screenshots in classroom material, documentation, and internal training are fine.

Fair use, fair dealing, and the equivalent doctrines where you live apply to our material as they do to anyone’s. This section describes uses we affirmatively welcome; it does not shrink rights you already have by law.

04Open-source components

KovaPDF is built on open-source software, and it would be poor form not to say so on a page about ownership. Among the components doing the real work: PDF parsing and rendering, PDF document manipulation, image processing, and the optical character recognition engine are all open-source projects maintained by others.

Each remains the property of its authors and is used under its own licence. Our copyright covers our own code, design and content — not theirs. A full component and licence list is available on request from support@kovapdf.com.

05Fonts embedded in your output

When a tool needs to draw text into your PDF — adding a text box, or rebuilding a scanned line as editable text — it embeds a font to do it. We use fonts that are licensed for embedding and redistribution, so the file you download can be shared, printed and sold without a font licence problem attaching to it. If you need to know exactly which font was embedded in a particular output, ask us and we will tell you.

06Your responsibility for what you process

Having a copy of a document is not the same as having the right to alter it, extract from it, or redistribute it. Many PDFs are supplied under terms that permit reading and nothing else, and a tool making an edit easy does not make that edit lawful.

You are responsible for holding the rights you need for whatever you do here — including removing a watermark, editing a contract, or extracting text from a work you did not write. We do not inspect your files and are in no position to judge this for you.

07If we have infringed your copyright

If something on our own pages — an image, an illustration, a piece of text — is yours and we are using it without permission, tell us and we will remove it or license it properly. The full procedure, and everything a formal notice needs to contain, is on the Reporting Copyright Violations page. For a simple “that picture is mine”, an email to support@kovapdf.com is enough to get it looked at.

08Asking for permission

For anything beyond the uses listed above — press kits, partnership branding, redistribution, or an unusual case you are not sure about — write to support@kovapdf.com describing what you want to do. We answer these, and the answer is often yes.
