Frequently asked questions about Compress PDF to 500 KB
Who asks for a PDF under 500 KB?
Application forms that take a few pages at a time: a scanned certificate, a signed declaration, a short CV. The limit is set so the form stays quick to use, and a scan straight from a phone is usually 2 to 5 MB, far above it.
Will a multi-page scan fit under 500 KB?
Usually, up to about four or five pages. The pictures inside are lowered in resolution step by step until the file fits. A longer scan may stop above the limit; then you get the smallest version it could make, with its size shown, and splitting it into parts is the way through.
Will the text go blurry?
Real text stays sharp at any size, because only the pictures are made smaller. A scanned page is itself a picture, so it softens a little as it shrinks, but at 500 KB a few pages of scan normally stay clear enough to read and print.
What if my file is already under 500 KB?
Nothing is made worse. The tool says the file was already under the limit and still gives you the smaller copy if it managed one.
Can I pick a different size?
Yes. The same tool offers 100 KB, 200 KB and 1 MB, or you can type any limit from 10 KB up, such as 2048 KB for a 2 MB rule.
Does anything change apart from the size?
No. Every page stays, in the same order and at the same page size. Only the pictures inside are lowered in resolution.
Is it free?
Yes. Every tool works without paying and without an account. Files can be up to 200 pages and 80 MB, and a run that fails costs you nothing.
Do I need to create an account?
No. All tools work without signing in. An account raises your hourly allowance and lets you see what you have processed.
What happens to my file?
Your file stays on our server only for a short time while it is processed, then it is deleted. It is sent over an encrypted connection. We keep a record that the tool was used, but not the file name or what is in the file.
