How it works
UPSC photo size in three steps
Choose Photo or Signature
Both UPSC sizes are set. Pick the one you are making, then add the picture from your phone or computer.
Check the preview
The preview shows the exact pixels and KB with a tick for every rule. Every box can still be changed.
Download and upload to the form
The file is made on your device and never sent to KovaPDF. Upload it to the official form.
What else the UPSC form checks
- Your face must cover at least three quarters of the photo, both ears showing, eyes open, no shadow or glare.
- Do not sign the photo. The 2026 instructions no longer ask for your name and date on it, as the 2024 and 2025 notices did.
- A live photo is also taken during the form and matched with the one you upload; if they do not match, the form stops.
- The signature is one picture with your signature three times, one below the other, in black ink.
- Save the files as photo.jpg and signature.jpg, the names the portal asks for.
UPSC photo size: questions
What is the UPSC photo size?
20 KB to 200 KB, a JPG on a plain white background, in the current portal instructions. No pixel size is given. Older notices allowed up to 300 KB, so use the current limit.
What is the UPSC triple signature?
Sign three times on white paper in black ink, one signature below the other, and take one photo of all three. Choose Signature on this page and add that photo; it becomes 400 × 400 pixels, inside the 350 to 500 the portal asks for, and between 20 and 100 KB.
Do I still need my name and date on the photo?
Not under the 2026 instructions, which tell you not to sign the photo. The 2024 and 2025 notices did ask for the name and date, so check the notice for your own exam.
Is my photo uploaded to KovaPDF?
No. It is resized on your own device. You upload the finished file to the UPSC portal yourself.
