Sejda's editor is free for documents up to 200 pages or 50 MB, and 3 tasks an hour.
Sejda says editing scanned documents is not supported, and a paid plan does not change that.
Sejda lists complex scripts such as Arabic and Devanagari as not supported, and right-to-left text as not fully supported.

Which editor should you use?
Choose KovaPDF if…
- Your PDF is a scan. Open it here and the editor offers to read the page with OCR, so you can change the words instead of covering them with a white box.
- You write in Hindi, Arabic or Bangla. Text you type keeps its joined letters and right-to-left order in the saved PDF.
- You keep hitting the free limit. Both editors limit free use without an account. Here a free account raises the limit; on Sejda it takes a paid pass.
- You want the file gone quickly. Your upload is deleted as soon as the edit is saved, not two hours later.
Choose Sejda if…
- You edit offline on a Mac or Linux. Sejda Desktop runs on Windows, Mac and Linux and can use the fonts on your computer. Our desktop app is Windows only.
- You need a short paid boost. Sejda's $5 web pass lasts 7 days, does not renew, and lifts its page limits.
- You need Bates numbering or N-up. Sejda has both. KovaPDF does not offer them.

Sejda PDF editor alternative: common questions
Is there a free alternative to the Sejda PDF editor?
Yes. The KovaPDF editor on this page changes the text in your PDF, adds images and links, fills in form fields and adds your signature. Without an account you get a limited free allowance; a free account raises it.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
Yes. When you open a scan, the editor tells you the pages are pictures and offers to open the file in OCR PDF, which reads the words so you can change them. It reads the first 30 scanned pages each run. Sejda's help pages say editing scanned documents is not supported, even on a paid plan.
Can I type Hindi, Arabic or Bangla in a PDF?
Yes. Text you add in these languages is saved with its letters joined correctly, and Arabic reads right to left. Sejda's editor page lists Arabic and Devanagari as not supported.
Is Sejda's PDF editor free?
For documents up to 200 pages or 50 MB, and 3 tasks an hour. After that you wait an hour or buy a pass: $5 for a week, $7.50 a month, or $63 a year with the desktop app (prices read on Sejda's site in October 2026).
What happens to my file after I edit it?
The editor saves your changes on our server, and the uploaded file is deleted as soon as the edited PDF is ready. Sejda deletes uploads after 2 hours.
Do I need to install anything?
No. The editor runs in your browser on a computer or a phone. On Windows there is also a free desktop app.
