In order, or all at once
In order emails the first person, waits until they finish, then emails the next. Use it when the order matters: an employee signs, then the manager approves, then HR countersigns. You can drag people up and down the list to change the order.
All at once emails everyone together. Use it when nobody depends on anyone else, like three partners signing the same NDA.
Either way, each person sees only the fields placed for them, in their own colour while you place them. The document is sealed once, when the last person finishes. Our post on signing in order or everyone at once has more examples.
When someone hands their turn on
If you allow it (it is on by default), a signer can pass their turn to someone else: the person they report to, or the colleague who actually holds signing authority. They type the new person's name and email and a reason. The new person gets the link, and the certificate of completion records who handed over to whom, when and why. Signing with someone in the room
For a customer at your counter, use in-person signing: you open their turn on your own tablet or laptop and hand it over. It is still recorded as their signature, with the time and the device.
How many people can be on one request?
The Free plan has a limited allowance of requests each calendar month, and paid Pro and Team plans. Pro removes the limits. The Free plan allows a limited number of people per request; when you add one too many, the tool says so then and keeps the rest. Everyone, including copy-only recipients, counts as a person on the request.

Can I set the signing order?
Yes. In order emails people one after another; all at once emails everyone together. Drag people to change the order.
Can someone approve without signing?
Yes. Give them the approver role. They read the document and approve or decline it.
Can I add a witness?
Yes. Add a witness and choose which signer they witness for. They get their own signature fields.
Do all the signers need an account?
No. Nobody who signs needs an account; only the sender needs a free one.
How many signers can I add on the Free plan?
A limited number per request. We do not publish the number; the tool tells you when you reach it, and paid plans allow more.
