Which one should you use?
Choose KovaPDF if…
- Two requests a month is not enough. The Free plan's allowance is larger than Adobe's free two, and it resets on a fixed day you can plan around.
- You want templates and bulk send on a free plan. Both work on KovaPDF's Free plan, within the allowance.
- You do not need the rest of Acrobat. Paying $14.99 a month mostly buys Acrobat's editor. If you only send forms and contracts, that is money for features you do not use.
Choose Adobe Acrobat Sign if…
- You already pay for Acrobat. Standard and Pro state no request cap, so sending is already included in what you pay.
- You want to send from inside the Acrobat app you already use. Then requests sit next to your other Acrobat work, with one Adobe account for everything.
Rolling 30 days versus a calendar month
The two free limits are counted differently, and that matters more than the number. Adobe's two requests are rolling: each one comes back 30 days after you sent it. Send on the 3rd and the 20th, and your next free request is on the 2nd of next month, then the 19th.
KovaPDF's Free plan counts by calendar month in UTC. Whatever you sent this month, the allowance starts again on the 1st. KovaPDF has a Free plan with a limited allowance, and paid Pro and Team plans. Pro removes the limits.
What "Adobe Sign" means now
Adobe's e-signature product is called Acrobat Sign, and the free version people find is the online "Request signatures" page on adobe.com. It is tool-first, like this page: upload, add emails, place fields, then sign in to send. If you came from that page, the steps below will look familiar.
Your first request here
- Upload a PDF, Word file or photo (Word and images are turned into a PDF first).
- Add each person and choose a role: signer, approver, witness or copy only.
- Place signature, date, initials and text fields for each of them, or let Place automatically do a first pass.
- Create your free account at the end, when you press Send. Nothing you prepared is lost.
The signed PDF is sealed with a trusted timestamp, and anyone can check it later with Verify Signature, the same way you would check a file signed with Acrobat Sign.
Adobe Sign alternative: common questions
Is there a free alternative to Adobe Sign?
Yes. KovaPDF's Request Signatures sends documents for signature on the Free plan, within a limited allowance, from a free account. Signers do not need an account.
How many free signature requests does Adobe give?
Two request transactions every 30 days, rolling, on a free Adobe account, when we read the page in October 2026.
Why does Adobe say I have reached my request limit?
On a free account the limit is two requests in any 30-day window. The next one is available 30 days after the oldest of the two was sent, or right away on a paid Acrobat plan.
Do signers need an Adobe or KovaPDF account?
No, on either service. On KovaPDF, signers open a private link from their email and sign in the browser on a phone or computer.
Can I use templates without paying?
Yes. Templates, bulk send from a CSV and public signing links all work on KovaPDF's Free plan, within its allowance.
