Which one should you use?
Choose KovaPDF if…
- You do not use other Zoho apps. There is nothing to set up beyond a free account with a verified email.
- You sign with a certificate. Digital Signature uses your .pfx or .p12 file, USB token or smart card, and the result can be checked against the EU Trusted Lists with Verify Signature.
- You need a public signing link. Turn a template into a link and a QR code, and pause or close it when you are done.
Choose Zoho Sign if…
- Your business already runs on Zoho apps. One Zoho account for signing and everything else is simpler than adding another service.
- You want to try a paid plan before you pay. Zoho's paid plans have a 14-day trial. Ours have no trial; the Free plan is how you try it.
- You want signed files kept for you. We delete each request 30 days after it finishes, so you keep the signed PDF yourself.
Who outgrows Zoho Sign's free plan
Five envelopes is enough to try Zoho Sign and to sign the odd document. It gets tight when a second person in the office needs to send too, because the free plan is single user, or when the same form has to go to a whole list.
KovaPDF has a Free plan with a limited allowance, and paid Pro and Team plans. Pro removes the limits. Every person makes their own free account, so a two-person office does not have to share one login.
Two kinds of signature on one site
Most e-signature services, Zoho Sign included, give you one kind of signature: an electronic signature backed by an audit trail. KovaPDF has two:
- Request Signatures (on this page) for getting other people's signatures, with a certificate of completion and a trusted timestamp seal on the finished PDF;
- [Digital Signature](/digital-signature-pdf) for signing yourself with a certificate you already have, at PAdES B-B, B-T, B-LT or B-LTA. Read what PAdES levels mean.
Use the first for contracts with clients. Use the second when a tender portal, a bank or a public body asks for a certificate-based signature.
Moving a Zoho Sign template
Zoho templates do not export to other services, so rebuild it once here: upload the same PDF, name the roles (Tenant, Landlord, Witness), place their fields and save. From then on, starting a request takes a minute.
