Everything HEIC to PNG can do
Turn iPhone HEIC photos into PNG files that keep every pixel, for editing and design work.
iPhone photos
- HEIC photos straight from the iPhone camera roll or a computer folder
- Converted on our server over an encrypted connection, then deleted
- Upright, the way the iPhone showed the photo
The PNG file
- No quality setting, because PNG drops nothing when it saves
- Edit and save it again as often as you like with no further loss
- No location or camera details copied into the PNG
- Make smaller to a width you type, for a much lighter file
How it works
HEIC to PNG in three steps
Add your HEIC photos
Choose up to 10 photos at a time, or 50 when signed in, from your iPhone or your computer.
PNG is already chosen
PNG has no quality setting: it keeps the photo exactly as it was decoded. Choose Make smaller for a lighter file in pixels.
Download your PNGs
One photo downloads as a PNG; several come together in a ZIP. HEIC photos are converted on our server and deleted as soon as they are done.
Frequently asked questions about HEIC to PNG
Should I choose PNG or JPG for an iPhone photo?
PNG if you will edit the photo, put it in a design, or a form asks for PNG: it keeps every pixel, and saving it again loses nothing. JPG if you only want to share or upload it: the file is far smaller and looks the same. HEIC to JPG is the page for that.
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the HEIC?
HEIC packs a photo very tightly, and PNG keeps every pixel without leaving anything out, which suits graphics more than photos. Our 12 megapixel test photo was 0.5 MB as HEIC, 20 MB as PNG and 1.5 MB as a JPG at quality 90. Choose Make smaller to set a width, which shrinks the PNG a lot.
Does PNG make my photo better quality than JPG?
It cannot add detail the HEIC did not hold, but it adds no loss of its own. A JPG is saved with a small loss each time; a PNG is not. That matters when you edit the picture and save it many times.
Will the photo come out sideways?
No. Each photo comes out the right way up, as your iPhone showed it, so the PNG needs no turning.
Is the location taken out of the photo?
Yes. Where the photo was taken, the camera details and the other hidden information in the HEIC file are not copied into the PNG.
What happens to my photos?
Most browsers cannot open HEIC, so your photos are sent to our server over an encrypted connection, converted there, and deleted as soon as the PNGs are made. We keep a record that the tool was used, not the photo.
How many photos can I convert at once?
Up to 10 at a time without an account, and 50 when you are signed in. They all get the same settings and download together in one ZIP. If one photo cannot be read, the others still finish and the page lists the one that did not.
